Chris Trombley

“I was born on Long Island and grew up in the tri-state area, so the galleries and museums of New York City were a constant pull….and their proximity allowed for frequent visits. I was drawn to this wonderful world and my mother enrolled me in summer art camps to satisfy my appetite.

Early on, clay and fiber were attractive, perhaps because of the tactile, hands on experience. I loved to draw and never leave home without my sketchbook to this day.

Watercolor and realism are the much explored and well-loved foundation of my art. I have pushed my skills with complex drawings and the fickleness of the medium, to include collage and mixed media in recent years offering challenges and finished pieces that are exciting and thought provoking.

Of late I have been exploring acrylics, also including collage, and find myself both energized and taunted by the characteristics of this medium. A new world is emerging for me…bolder and louder and one that includes personal messages and meaning where I am delighted to not only take risks but take on a very different adventure!

These adventures will, no doubt, lead to further exploration and a continuing and deepening love for the process. I live in Birmingham, Michigan and summer in Harbor Springs, Michigan with my husband and have two grown children. I am currently a member of the International Society for Experimental Artists and the Detroit Artists Market. I am very active at the Birmingham Bloomfield Art Center; I am the Vice President of the Birmingham Society of Women Painters and am part of the Henry Ford Hospital permanent Art collection. My work can be seen across Michigan in shows and private galleries.”
